What types of visas are there in Spain?
Short-stay visa or Schengen visa
- Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland
Schengen visa issued by the Embassy or Consulate
The Schengen visa issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the above-mentioned countries allows the holder to travel freely in all of them. If you wish to visit only one country in the Schengen area, you must apply for it at the Consulate of that country. In the event that you are going to visit several Schengen countries, you must apply for it at the consulate of your main destination (the one where you will spend most of your days).
In Spain the Schengen visa fee is as follows:
– Adults: fee of 80 euros.
– Children under 12 years old: fee of 40 euros.
– Children under 6 years old are excluded from the visa fee.
Long-term visas in Spain will allow you to stay in Spain for more than 90 days. Once accepted and released, you can receive a resident card once in Spain to cover your stay there. All people in the world who need to work, study for more than 90 days or wish to travel to Spain may need a long-stay Spanish visa.
There are some exceptions that are excluded from this requirement:
- Member States of the European Union.
- Netherlands.
- Norway.
- Iceland.
- Liechtenstein.
- Switzerland.
